PRESENTATION

Praxis Archaeologica is the annual electronic journal published by the Portuguese Professional Association of Archaeologists that aims to generate an open space for the discussion and diffusion of perspectives on the exercise of Archaeology as a professional activity.

Therefore, its main function is to provide the necessary conditions for the debate of all issues that the archaeological community considers relevant to the sustained development of Archaeology as a professional activity. The range of possible subjects includes, for instance, questions related to the legal framework involving the practice of Archaeology, the epistemological traits that govern the archaeological actions and the interpretation of recovered information, the observance of scrupulous deontological principles, the relationship of archaeologists with society, etc.

All volumes will include a Special Section dedicated to the presentation and discussion of hot issues in the agenda of both Portuguese and international Archaeology, including a series of papers under request by the Editorial Board.

In addition to the papers presented to the Special Section, the Editorial Board asks all archaeologists, either autonomous professionals, employees of both public and private companies and institutions, teachers or postgraduate students, to contribute with individual or collective papers that fulfill the editorial policy of Praxis Archaeologica, as outlined in the Notes to Contributors.

The Editorial Board of Praxis Archaeologica and the Professional Association of Archaeologists declare that all opinions stated in the published articles are exclusive responsibility of their authors, in none case representing the official line of the Professional Association of Archaeologists’ Executive Board, unless explicitly stated.
